Mount St. Michael

This is the famous Mount St. Michael in France. This was one of the highlights on our trip with our grandparents. We all spent a lot of time photographing this island off the coast of Brittany/Normandy, so there will be more pictures to follow (night shots). Unfortunately, that leads me to the next point. The lack of updates around here has been because life has been hectic, in a good way, for the last few months. It will continue to be hectic for a long while yet. We have 37 more days until we move home, about 2 weeks of which will be full of more traveling (Cologne, Brussels, Bruges, Copenhagen, The Black Forest, and possibly Hallstatt), and all the rest will entail us getting ready to move home (the movers come only a few days after we finish these last trips). Not only that, but when we finally get home, we plan on coming and visiting almost everybody we know!! So... I wish we had more time to dedicate to this site, but for now, the updates will not be consistently regular (have they been ever in the last year or so?). Please don't stop coming to the site (and commenting), but please don't count on there being updates too often for the time being.

Half an Eiffel

We are back (and recovered) from our trip through Switzerland and France. We had a great time, and saw some amazing things. We spent the last couple days relaxing, doing laundry, and planning for the next few trips. We leave for Montana soon, so we are packing in as much traveling as we can before then. This photo is from our last night in Paris. We went out late at night to see the Eiffel Tower, and when we stepped out of the subway we only saw half of it! The fog was so thick that even from just a few yards away you couldn't even see something so big and well lit.

Quick update: Hello everyone! The four of us are still on our (huge) trip. We are currently up in the Brittany region of France, which is in the north west corner next to Normandy. The trip is going very smoothly so far, and has been extremely rewarding. This is from Carcassonne, which is a huge fortress down south. We have a few more days in Brittany and Normandy before ending our trip with a few days in Paris. Happy 2010!

Fallon and I just got back from our awesome trip to Venice. We picked up the grandparents the next day, and in the morning... we're off yet again. This time we will be gone for about two weeks. We will be in Switzerland and France, but we will have the laptop with us and hope to check in every few days. Love you all!

Dresden Together

We've packed a lot into the last few weeks... We've been taking care of all sorts of stuff for getting out of the army, attending as many Christmas markets as possible, baking dozens of cookies (whew!), and enjoying the snow (well, Stephen is, Fallon isn't). This is from our first trip together after the deployment. We spent one night in Dresden (2 hours north of here), and then one night in Poland (1 hour east of Dresden). This one is by the river in Dresden. We've been told that Dresden has one of the best Christmas markets in Germany. Nobody told us that there were several markets though =) This weekend marked the beginning of the cold snap here in Germany.

Oh Xmas Tree

Happy Holidays!! Lets see if I can get us a bit caught up... Fallon and I have been busy since I arrived home a few weeks ago. We've had a bazillion appointments regarding getting the heck out of Europe once and for all. I've finally finished all my homework for this term (finals are this Thursday and Friday). We've been going to as many Christmas Markets as possible, so far we've done Dresden, Frankfurt, and Regensburg. We've done one short trip to Poland (where Fallon killed her ankle). I've finally got the GMAT behind me, so after my final final on Friday, I will be done with my undergrad and halfway in the door (hopefully) to grad school. Were celebrating Christmas on Sunday so we can spend the actual Christmas weekend in Venice (were counting on everything being closed and the streets not busy, for photographic opportunities of course). There are a ton of photographs to post, so stay tuned. There are also a ton of trips planned, we will fill you in as we go. Love you all. Merry Christmas!!

Reunion 2009

This is our welcome home ceremony on 18 November, 2009. Its so good to be home, and finally done with Iraq. Forever. The plan now is to take my graduate school admissions test on the 15th of December, finish my degree on the 18th of December, travel like crazy for two months, then get out of the Army in March. This has by far been the busiest month I think Fallon and I have had, ever. Luckily, its about to start toning down a little. I want to thank everybody for all the support you provided for my wife and myself during both deployments; we couldn't have done it without you =)

Sorry for the major lack of updates, we've both been swamped in travel planning, school, and other various preparations for the future. The final countdown has begun, and I will be home very soon. Normal posts will hopefully begin again shortly thereafter. Were finally done with this =) -Stephen-

In a Tuk Tuk

Fallon and I spent the better part of a morning zipping around downtown Bangkok in a tuk tuk. It was an experience like never before. Those little buggers are small, fast, loud, and zippy. They are a lot of fun to be driven around in. Not only can you get from point A to B faster than you ever imagined, but you do it in a hair-raising way.

After many days of wishing and hoping, Stephen finally made it snow here in Germany. I was trying to take a picture with the window open to send to Stephen so he can "have" snow in Iraq and Sophie decided to check it out. She didn't seem to mind it too much although I wasn't such a big fan.
